Brazilian youngster Estevao will join Chelsea next summer, but football won't be his only focus once he finally arrives in West London.

Chelsea announced in June that they had agreed a £28 million deal with Palmeiras to sign Estevao, who is one of the most promising young talents in world football.

The 17-year-old winger has already made 37 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 14 goals and registering eight assists, while he's also been capped twice by the Brazil national team.

In a wide ranging interview with Transfermarkt, Estevao spoke of his excitement to be joining Chelsea, but also admitted that he will still have to attend school during his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

“I still have a long way to go before I finish school. I have one more year to go," he explained. "I said, it’s not easy. I’m going to have to study in London. But I’m going to stay at the same school, I’m going to continue studying online."

Estevao said that juggling football and school this year in Brazil has been difficult, and that sometimes, he even has to submit assignments on the same day as games.

"There’s no way around it, you have to study and do it," he said. "But the teachers help a lot. I can do everything on my cell phone, I don’t have to use a notebook. That makes it much easier. But the guys on the team always joke around, tease me, and tell me that I need to study more.”

Estevao has lofty ambitions

Chelsea have had a number of hugely successful Brazilian's on their books over the years, including Willian, Ramires, and Oscar.

The most decorated, however, is defender David Luiz.

Across two spells with the club between 2011 and 2019, Luiz helped the club win the Premier League, the Champions League, two Europa Leagues, and two FA Cups.

Estevao, who is set to meet with Blues manager Enzo Maresca following the conclusion of the Brazilian Serie A season in December, told Transfermarkt that he wants to surpass Luiz's record at the Bridge.

“I want to make history and be the most successful Brazilian in the club’s history," he said. "I want to win titles and show my full potential, show everything I can do."
