Chelsea will face competition from both Manchester City and Arsenal if they want to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to Fichajes.

The Spanish outlet reported on Tuesday that City have now entered the race for Gyokeres as the long-term future of current star striker Erling Haaland is now unclear.

Fichajes claim that Haaland could soon move away from The Etihad to look for a new challenge, having already achieved so much in a short space of time in the Premier League.

Gyokeres, 26, is one of the hottest strikers in world football now, having scored 55 goals in his last 61 appearances for Sporting, including 11 in just 8 Primeira Liga games this term.

According to HITC, the Sweden international has been on the radar of Chelsea and Arsenal for some time, with both clubs looking to bolster their attacking options as they look to challenge City for the Premier League title.

Should any of Chelsea, City, or Arsenal want to land Gyokeres, who formerly played in England for both Swansea City and Coventry City, they'll have to pay a big sum.

The striker is contracted with Sporting until 2028 and has a release clause worth an eye-watering £85 million (€100 million).

Asked about the hefty clause in a press conference last month, Gyokeres said, according to TalkSPORT: "It's a lot, but I don’t want to go anywhere. I'm happy at Sporting, it's not a problem for me to stay."

Despite claiming to be happy in Lisbon, however, he went on to hint that a move away from the Portuguese club could be on the cards in the future.

"My value is my value," he said. "Let's see if something happens.”
