Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is not happy with Chelsea's decision to recall Trevoh Chalobah.

The English defender joined Palace on a season-long loan in the summer, and impressed with his assured displays in central defence.

In 12 Premier League games for the Eagles, Chalobah also scored three goals—a figure bettered by only one defender, Manchester City's Josko Gvardiol, in the English top flight this season.

Chelsea announced that they had exercised their option to recall Chalobah on Wednesday, cutting short his productive spell at Selhurst Park.

"Chelsea has recalled defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Premier League side Crystal Palace," the club said in a statement. "Chalobah, who has made 80 appearances for the Blues, returns to Stamford Bridge with immediate effect and will join up with Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad."

Chalobah wrote in a statement on his social media accounts: "It was short and sweet, but this club made such an impact on me so quickly. I was made to feel at home from day one, from the staff, teammates, community and you the supporters."

"The atmosphere at Selhurst was a vibe every single game," he added. "Thank you all!"

Palace made it four games unbeaten in their first match without Chalobah on Wednesday night, beating struggling Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and former Chelsea star Marc Guehi, who has also been linked with a sensational return to Stamford Bridge, were enough to seal all three points for the visitors.

Despite faring just fine without Chalobah, after the win, Glasner revealed his frustration at Chelsea's decision to recall the 25-year-old.

"When you make a loan deal, it is usually a win-win for everyone," he said, according to TNT Sports. "But now Chelsea are the biggest winners because they get a player back who scored three goals and is in much better shape than when he arrived."

The Austrian coach, however, did wish Chalobah well.

"I want to say thanks to Trevoh for his professionalism and for what he invested. He is a very good player and an even better human," Glasner said. "We had a great time together and I wish him all the best at Chelsea."

Chalobah could play his first game for Chelsea this season when the Blues host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Monday night.

"We have a few injuries, as you know, so we were looking for a solution and we thought the best solution would be to call back Trev," said the Italian coach. "Firstly, because we know him very well and secondly because we know he can help us. So we went for that solution."

"He knows the house better than me!" he added. "First of all, he was very happy, I could see his face and I had a chat with him a few days ago and again this morning. You can see he is happy and we are happy that he is here."
