"An amazing feeling."

Thats how Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall described scoring his first Chelsea goal on Thursday night as the Blues beat Gent 4-2 in the opening game of their first-ever Europa Conference League campaign.

"I'm over the moon,’ the English midfielder said after the match.

"I've been waiting for that moment since joining the club, to show everyone what my qualities are and I’m happy that was able to come to fruition tonight," he said.

Dewsbury-Hall, 26, scored the Blues' fourth and final goal of the night, pouncing on a loose ball in the box to finish from near penalty spot.

Renato Veiga, Pedro Neto, and Christopher Nkunku also found the net for Chelsea on what was another goal-filled night at Stamford Bridge.

Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea from Leicester City this summer, following manager Enzo Maresca to West London.

The Englishman was a key figure under Maresca for Leicester last season, winning the club's Supporters' Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season awards as The Foxes finished top of the Championship and secured promotion back to the Premier League.

He's so far had a less prominent role at Stamford Bridge, playing just 43 minutes in the top flight this term.

Speaking after the win over Gent, Dewsbury-Hall said he would "like to play more" but understands that Maresca has an abundance of talent at his disposal to choose from.

"I feel really fresh so that whenever I’m needed and I’m called upon I will try and give as best as I can, and hopefully that’s what I did tonight," he said.

He added: "Players like Joao Felix, Nkunku, Pedro Neto – these are top, top players and they are the players you want to play with because that’s how you thrive and improve. Since the first day I came into the club, it was about learning and evolving, and that’s what I’m here for."
