Levi Colwill has shared why he loves playing alongside Noni Madueke so much.
Madueke has been one of Chelsea's star players so far this season, scoring five goals in all competitions, including hat-trick against Wolves in the Premier League.
"We all know he’s going to beat his man nine out of 10 times,” Colwill, who is also enjoying stellar campaign, said of the former PSV Eindhoven forward in a YouTube video posted to Chelsea's official channel on Monday.
“And I trust him. I can close my eyes when the ball goes to him because I know something is going to happen," he added.
Colwill also praised Madueke for the defensive side of his game.
"As wingers and attackers, they sometimes lack that bit, and they don’t do it as much for the team as you need, which with him, it has been both sides," he said. “And, for a defender, that’s the best thing in the world to see. And I want him to score loads of goals and assist loads of goals when he’s doing that stuff because he deserves it.”
In the same video, Madueke returned the compliment to Colwill, praising him for his own displays this season.
The former Brighton loanee has started, and finished, every game in the Premier League this season in the heart of Chelsea's defence alongside Wesley Fofana.
Madueke said that he thinks Colwill and Fofana make a great partnership because they are "polar opposites."
"They really complement each other," he explained. "Wes carries the ball and Levi passes it. Wes is front and Levi is a sweeper, but if there are games when if we all need to be on the front foot then Levi can do that. He’s the control and Wes is the aggressor."
Sadly for Chelsea, Colwill and Fofana's partnership will be broken up for the Blues' next match, which is against Liverpool on October 20.
Alongside Marc Cucrella, Fofana is suspended for the trip to Anfield having picked up his fifth booking of the season in Chelsea's recent draw with Nottingham Forest.
