Liverpool are considering a shock move for Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk.

At least that's according to Spanish football website Fichajes, which on Sunday reported that the Reds are eyeing Mudryk as a long-term placement for Mohamed Salah.

Salah, once a former Chelsea player himself, is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and is heavily touted to be on his way to Saudi Arabia next summer.

Fichajes report that Liverpool would be willing to pay an initial fee of around €35 million (£29.3 million) for Mudryk, though that could rise to €50 million (£41.8 million) in performance-related add-ons.

Misfiring Misha

Mudryk, 23, joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for an initial fee of £62 million.

Big things were expected of the Ukraine international following his impressive breakthrough season with Shakhtar, which saw him shine in the Champions League, but he has since failed to make his mark at Stamford Bridge.

In 64 games for Chelsea, Mudryk has hit the back of the net just seven times and he now finds himself out of favour with Blues boss Enzo Maresca, who prefers all of Jadon Sancho, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, and Pedro Neto in the wide areas.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf recently described Mudryk as a “lost cause."

“I really worry that Chelsea have signed a dud in Mudryk and they must replace him," the Frenchman told Boyle Sports.

Maresca has also been publicly critical of Mudryk.

Asked about the Ukrainian winger, who has played just 80 minutes of football in the Premier League this season, in a press conference earlier this month, Maresca said: "Misha is Misha. You have to accept the way he is."

"Hopefully he can get minutes and do better," he added.
